Maserati Granturismo: How to Repair a Failed AC Compressor

  1. Ensure Safety:

    Before starting, make sure the engine is cool and disconnect the battery to prevent accidental shocks.

  2. Relieve Pressure:

    Connect AC manifold gauges and relieve any pressure in the system by rotating the valves clockwise.

  3. Remove Serpentine Belt:

    Use your serpentine belt tool to slowly lose and remove the serpentine belt running over the AC compressor pulley.

  4. Remove Compressor:

    Using your socket and ratchet set, remove the bolts connecting to the compressor. You may require extensions to reach these. Disconnect all the wiring attached.

  5. Install New Compressor:

    Install the new compressor by reversing the removal process. Connect and fasten the bolts and wiring.

  6. Reinstall Serpentine Belt:

    Reinstall the serpentine belt using your serpentine belt tool.

  7. Recharge System:

    Recharge your AC system by attaching your manifold gauges and connecting your refrigerant. Open the valves and allow the system to fill till the recommended pressure.

  8. Test the System:

    Reconnect the battery, start your car, and test the AC system. If its cools properly, then the repair was successful.
